Other Societies Represented at the Southern Regional Meeting

The Southern Regional Meeting (SRM) is a joint achievement sponsored by the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation (SSCI) and its partnering organizations. Each year for the SRM, the SSCI joins with the Southern regional chapters of 4 national organizations—the Southern Section of the American Federation for Medical Research (S-AFMR), the Southern region of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM), the Southern Society for Pediatric Research (SSPR), and the Southern region of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA). Although the organizations differ with regard to membership and focus of interests (internists or adult physicians vs. pediatricians; subspecialists vs. generalists and midcareer to senior faculty vs. early career onward), all are united by their commitment to academic medicine, to the advancement of medical knowledge and to the fostering of the careers of the next generation of physician scholars. These organizations also share the common goal to put together a valuable meeting each year.
